Working Mom's Weekend Beauty Regimen

Hey moms - your weekend needn't be dull. You have two whole days to indulge yourself. Try a new beauty routine, revamp your wardrobe. Emerge sparkling on Sunday!

Friday

First, peel off your clothes and take a long look at yourself in the mirror. Nudity tells no lies (especially when you relax your muscles!). Get out the tape measure and the scales. See just where those extra kilograms need to come off and what needs toning up. Be critical and truthful. See how you can change yourself -maybe a new hairstyle, or why not be daring and change the color? Now make a list of what you'll need over the next two days for a complete beauty routine. Tomorrow is a day for action.

Saturday

Start the day with some deep breathing exercises - really stretch your whole body. Try your own "health farm" routine. Fast for one whole day. Stick to fresh fruit juices or water. This cleanses the body and helps break bad eating habits. Spend a few minutes exercising and aim at making it a daily workout. Hula hoops are still tops for whittling the waist. And they have an extra bonus - they'll help you to develop a sense of rhythm. Side bends and twist from the waist are good too. Invest in, a skipping rope or jog up and down the stairs of your apartment block. Buy a book on yoga and discover meditation. Experiment until you find the exercises which suit you best and you actually enjoy doing. Now is the time for some order in your wardrobe. Put away your wet season clothes for next year. Now go through last year's summer clothes. Sort out what you know you won't wear again (be honest) and give them to a favorite charity. Separate what needs to be washed, dry-cleaned and mended. Older clothes take on a new lease of life if you dye them another color. Sometimes all they need is some different accessories. A few scarves and some small jewelry may be enough to bring you up to date with this summer's look. And trying on last year's gear is a good way to find out just how many extra kilograms have crept on. After all that hard work you 'deserve a rest. Relax with a glass of juke for 10 minutes, then head for the fresh air. If it's a day, you can give the car a quick wash, and you're ready to go shopping. You'll need hair color, perhaps some new makeup and a dye for your clothes. Add sage your face with your favorite moisturizer or use oil if your skin is dry. For the finale, put on a facial mask and relax. Have an early night - write those long overdue letters. Make a few phone calls; relax in bed with a good book.

Sunday

Wake up slowly... spend a leisurely morning in bed with champagne and orange juice, croissants, coffee and the Sunday papers. But don't shirk your exercises - you need a few minutes every day. And don't forget your diet either. Work out an eating plan for the following week, but remember to take food in small quantities. Stick to protein foods and ease up on carbohydrates. Today aim at relaxing, and do whatever you like. If you feel energetic, give your flat a face lift, shine up the leaves on your pot plants. Put on a favorite record that you haven't played for a while. Treat yourself to manicure.

Paint your nails the season's bright new pink. Take a leisurely walk through the park and see the new spring blooms. Experiment with your makeup and create a new look. Crayons are an inexpensive way to try out new effects. They come in a multitude of colors and you can use them on every part of your face. Draw a new you! To complete the image, plan to pack the week ahead with activity. Now's the time to start that new hobby you've been thinking about for months. Don't waste your lunch hours.

Book yourself in to a get-fit class to carry on the good work of your weekend exercise. Aim at a great summer shape. Join a library and ready your way through the best-seller lists -that way your conversation will sparkle as well as your face. Now all you have to do is get into your favorite outfit, the one you always feel great in, and you're ready to face your friends.
